Hello i’m Kamya Taylor and this is my blog. I’m 16 years old and i take Edgewood Garden, the class in Xanadu. I will be blogging my awesome encounter with gardening and showing what i learned. What Is A Farm ?
You may ask. A Farm also known as an agriculture is an area of land that is devoted primarily to agricultural processes with the primary objective of producing food and other crops; it is the basic facility in food production.
A farm that is owned and operated by a family, especially one that has been handed down from one generation to another. A Family Farm is the oldest way of managing agricultural pursuit in the United States.

Its been a week and today we went back to the Edgewood garden and took a deeper look at the fruits and vegetables with our instructors.
Chickasaw plum trees can be grown anywhere in the United States hardy zones 5-9. They require full sun but can grow in partly shaded areas. The fruit of the Flatwood often remains amazingly bitter and hard even after months on the tree.
Last Wednesday when I looked at the tomatoes they were small and just coming out the roots. Now the tomatoes are green and huge and in about 2 weeks they should be ready to be harvested.

Did you know Agriculture is the science, art and practice of cultivating plants and livestock. Agriculture was the key development in the rise of sedentary human civilization, whereby farming of domesticated species created food surpluses that enabled people to live in cities.
The start of something new !
The Coan farm
The Coan farm was so grown out. Couldn’t hardly see the harvest of fruits and vegetables. It just needed a extreme makeover.
There was tons of fresh organic garlic that needed to be harvested so thats what we started off doing.
Once we harvested all the organic garlic we put them aside and we learned how to weed the dead grass and began to make the rows.
Weeding
A weed is a plant considered undesirable in a particular situation, “a plant in the wrong place”. What we had to do was pick up our “ gardening hoe tool” and or use our hands and pick the dead grass/ dead plants out of the ground so we could see what we were working with.
Once we were done weeding our rows and harvesting garlic we cleaned up after our selves, packed it up and went inside for the day. Our day was finished and completed.
My favorite part of the day was learning how to harvest garlic . Harvesting garlic had to be my favorite part because i got to see my food coming out of the ground and just seeing the impact i made on the farm for the day.
