Its been a whole day and I thougth i would tell you people what i did on this hot steaming day.

Today we took another deeper look at the Edgewood garden, and notice somethings we didn’t realize at first.

Fig tree

This is a fig tree. Ficus carica is an Asian species of flowering plant in the mulberry family, known as the common fig. The fruit, also called the fig, is an important crop in those areas where it is grown commercially.

Fig FRUIT is used as a laxative to relieve constipation. Fig LEAF is used for diabetes, high cholesterol, and skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, and vitiligo. Some people apply the milky sap (LATEX) from the tree directly to the skin to treat skin tumors and warts.

I harvested part of a fig branch, where there was no fig fruit growing. I had an opportunity to regrow the fig tree.

Another plant that caught my attention was this Willow tree.

This is a willow tree. I noticed that It’s growing sideways because theres a big oak tree growing above the plant blocking the sun so the willow treewont get the proper nutritions it needs. So the willow tree is pointing at a direction where it can still get the proper nutrients it needs and will still grow.

The bark is used to make medicine. Willow bark acts a lot like aspirin, so it can be used for pain.

After we got some cool and interesting facts about our two new plants we decided to head back to the coan farm.

Once we got to the coan farm we began to continue weeding and inserting our rows.

Kamya inserting rows.

After we inserted our rows and laid down compost we used the information that our instructors gave us and we began to plant our sweet potatoes.

After we planted our sweet potatos

What is Vertical Farming ?

the practice of growing crops in vertically stacked layers. It often incorporates controlled -environment agriculture, which aims to optimize plant growth, and soilless farmingtechniques such as hydroponics, aquaponics, and aeroponics.

It was very humid but we made sure we accomplished everything we were told to accomplish.

My favorite part of today was probably inserting our sweet potatoes into our rows of compost so they can grow nice and strong.

One day after our start date.

This is how the farm looked after our first day.
